This spring, Jan Brokken is guest writer at Sorbonne University in Paris, between March 21 and April 8, 2016. He will give several lectures for students and interested visitors about his work, including his latest works, ‘The Reprisal‘ and ‘The Cossack Garden’. All lectures will be held in French. Two days of the programme will be dedicated to a translation workshop for students, during which they will work on a french translation of parts of The Poet’s House (In het huis van de dichter), on life and work of the Russian pianist Youri Egorov.
On April 5, Brokken speaks at a literary evening (French spoken) organised by the Dutch Embassy and the Goethe Institute. The theme of the evening is ‘Écrire sur un pays – le regard de l‘autre’, with Jan Brokken and writers Hélène Cixous (sous réserve), Emine Sevgi Özdamar and Cécile Wajsbrot.
