Unique eyewitness account of Salih El Saddy, the doctor who worked for a month at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza
Since October 7, 2023, Dutch doctor Salih El Saddy has been following developments in Gaza with growing concern. Images of violence and human suffering flood his timeline, and the urge to help becomes unbearable. Early spring 2025, he decides to take action and offers his medical expertise to various aid organizations. Shortly after, Salih receives a message: he can join a medical mission to Gaza. He has two days to decide. Without hesitation, he leaves in May 2025.
For a month, Salih works at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City under constant threat of bombing. He provides care to the critically injured, offers comfort to affected loved ones, and works side by side with local healthcare providers who have remained at the hospital despite everything.
Come What May is a poignant account of Salih’s time in Gaza. It offers an honest, human insight into the daily realities of war, depicting not only the destruction, but also the unbreakable resilience of the people who continue to care for each other where the need is the highest.
