Kat moves to her deceased uncle’s house on the outskirts of town. His house is a magical place. Among the rattling armour, mysterious statues, and stuffed animals, Kat finds a pebble. It’s gray and boring, but Kat slips it into her pocket and forgets about it. But suddenly, strange things start happening. In the tree in her garden, she finds an inventor; on her uncle’s grave, she finds a man playing the guitar; and a girl with no legs shares her deepest secret. The pebble seems to do things that a regular, boring pebble could never do…
